WSIB and Psychological Treatment

A workplace psychological injury can affect nearly every area of life—from sleep and emotional regulation to concentration, relationships, daily activities and the ability to work.

THRIVE Psychological Services provides psychologist-led mental health care for individuals experiencing work-related psychological symptoms and injuries, including clients receiving care through WSIB.

Our interdisciplinary team includes psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers and nurse psychotherapists, allowing treatment to be matched to the needs and clinical presentation of the individual.

Mental Health Treatment through WSIB

Ontario workers may experience psychological difficulties following a traumatic workplace event, cumulative exposure to distressing situations, workplace violence, a physical workplace injury or other work-related circumstances.

When psychological treatment has been authorized by WSIB, care may focus on reducing symptoms while improving the functional abilities required for everyday life and, where appropriate, safe and sustainable participation in work.

Treatment at THRIVE is individualized and may address:

  • PTSD and trauma-related symptoms

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Hypervigilance

  • Intrusive thoughts, memories or nightmares

  • Sleep disturbance

  • Avoidance

  • Reduced concentration or attention

  • Loss of confidence

  • Occupational stress

  • Difficulties resuming meaningful activities

  • Barriers affecting return to work
